Dr. Sarit S. Agasti is a Faculty Fellow/Assistant Professor in Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research (JNCASR). Towards his academic career, he graduated from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst with a PhD in Chemistry, under the guidance of Prof. Vincent M. Rotello in 2010. His PhD research work focussed on engineering the interfaces between biomolecules and nanomaterials for biological applications. After graduation, he joined Prof. Ralph Weissleder’s lab at Harvard Medical School where he utilised DNA barcoding technology for multiplexed protein analysis in single cells. In 2013, he opted for a second postdoctoral position in the DNA nanotechnology group of Prof. Peng Yin at Wyss Institute at Harvard University. There he worked on developing super-resolution imaging method using programmable autonomous blinking of DNA probe.
His present research work focuses on translating synthetic chemistry concepts to biology for developing novel chemical tools for labeling and tracking specific biomolecules as they function in vivo. Furthermore, his research work also covers the areas of DNA-based super-resolution microscopy, programmable molecular materials and next generation protein profiling technology. Dr. Agasti is the author of several high impact reseach journals, including Nature Chemistry, Nature Methods, Angew Chem, JACS etc.
