Dr Vidya Chandran did her Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (M.B.B.S) from Seth G. S. Medical college and K.E.M Hospital, Mumbai and Masters in Technology in Biomedical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay. After a short period in Prof. Volkhard Helm's group at Max Planck Institute of Biophysics, Frankfurt, she secured the prestigious Nehru Cambridge Scholarship and Overseas research scholarship (ORS) to do her Ph.D. from Department of Biochemistry, University of Cambridge with Prof. Ben Luisi. Her postdoctoral work was in the laboratory of Prof. Gabriel Waksman at Birkbeck College, Institute of Structural Molecular Biology (ISMB), London. She was awarded a Wellcome-DBT intermediate fellowship to start her group in the Molecular Biophysics Unit, IISc. She has also been awarded the Biochemical Society Early Career Award recently. Vidya has now moved to UK for personal reasons.
