Vesicular transport or trafficking is required for the accurate transport ofmolecules both within and outside the cell. Through specialized transport,signaling molecules can be localized to specific portions of the cell, permittingdistinct interactions with ligands and other partners, ultimately resulting in specifictranscriptional activity. This ability to alter downstream signaling events hasmade vesicular transport a key player in controlling developmental decisions.While a significant body of literature exists describing the role of trafficking inregulating developmental decisions in a number of model organisms, littleinformation exists regarding similar decisions in mammals. Using mouse embryonic stem cells as a model system to study early development, I aim to provide a better understanding for the role of vesicular transport in earlydevelopmental decisions.
