It is imperative to counter misinformation and reinforce scientific temper with empathy. As the world battles this huge crisis, we deeply value the role of journalists, field reporters, community media professionals, radio professionals and others in the business of communication.
The Wellcome Trust/DBT India Alliance, THSTI, IAVI and Nature India bring to you a special 'Webinar on ‘COVID-19: Ask The Experts’. The webinar provides journalists, community media reporters and other media professionals, and those seeking credible information on the coronavirus pandemic an opportunity to interact with experts to better understand the science and public health impact of COVID- 19. The experts will also discuss the best practices and strategies of fact-finding and reporting.
Dr. Shahid Jameel | CEO | Wellcome Trust/DBT India Alliance
Shahid is a virologist known for his research on hepatitis E virus. He is the Fellow of all the three Indian Science Academies including viz. National Academy of Sciences, India, Indian Academy of Sciences, and Indian National Science Academy.
Dr. Gagandeep Kang | Executive Director| Translational Health Science and Technology Institute
Gagandeep is a medical scientist who has worked on diarrhoeal diseases and public health in India since the early 1990s. She is a key contributor to the understanding of rotavirus epidemiology and vaccinology in India. She was a recipient of the Infosys Prize in 2016 and last year became the first woman working in India to be elected to the Royal Society of UK. She is also the Chair of National Technical Advisory Group for Immunization and Vice Chair for the Coalition of Epidemic Preparedness and Innovations.
