The COVID-19 situation has been fast evolving not only in India but globally, with cases rising, new data emerging, and rapid advances being made in COVID-19 R&D. We bring to you the 6th webinar in the 'COVID-19: Ask The Experts' series with a view to take a stock of these recent scientific advances, public health actions and the future course of this pandemic.
Dr. Gagandeep Kang | Executive Director | Translational Health Science and Technology Institute
Gagandeep is a medical scientist who has worked on diarrhoeal diseases and public health in India since the early 1990s. She is a key contributor to the understanding of rotavirus epidemiology and vaccinology in India. She was a recipient of the Infosys Prize in 2016 and last year became the first woman working in India to be elected to the Royal Society of UK. She is also the Chair of National Technical Advisory Group for Immunization and Vice Chair for the Coalition of Epidemic Preparedness and Innovations.
Dr. Jacob John | Professor | Christian Medical College, Vellore
Jacob trained as a public health physician at the Christian Medical College, Vellore and subsequently joined the faculty there. He is currently Professor of Community Medicine and teaches infectious disease epidemiology and quantitative epidemiology. His research and public health focus have been in the area of vaccine preventable pediatric infectious diseases. He has previously worked on the epidemiology and control of polio, Hepatitis B, Hemophilus Influenza B and Rotavirus. He currently leads a network of clinical researchers estimating the burden of enteric fever in India.
Dr. Shahid Jameel | CEO | Wellcome Trust/DBT India Alliance
Shahid is a virologist known for his research on hepatitis E virus. He is the Fellow of all the three Indian Science Academies including viz. National Academy of Sciences, India, Indian Academy of Sciences, and Indian National Science Academy.
